Getting Around Egypt

Getting there

By air: Egypt’s main international airports are in Alexandria, Cairo and Luxor. The busiest and most widely used of all these is Cairo. Direct flights to Cairo leave from most European cities.

By bus: Public buses travel to Egypt from Israel through Rafah on the northern coast of Sinai.

By ferry: Both Port Said and Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast are entry points to Egypt via ferry, as are Suez and Nuweiba on the Red Sea.

Getting around

By air: Travelling between the country’s different airport on domestic flights can be organised easily.

By train: The train network in Egypt is extremely efficient and connects basically all major towns and cities.

By bus: Buses connect all the major towns and cities also and are a cheaper alternative to getting the train.
